Under the direction of Advance Engineering Manager, co-ordinate and administer all method activities required for the bid phase and initial start-up of vehicle upgrade opportunities. Primarily, this will include supporting the development and costing of attractive, cost effective solutions. And ensuring that the labour, materials, process and tooling requirements are fully understood.
• Work in close collaboration with the Advance Engineers and Specialist Engineers to ensure that proposed technical solutions are optimised in terms of cost, simplicity and manufacturability.
• Establish a robust model for all elements of production labour though the full production execution cycle. This will include, benchmarking of similar projects across BT.
• Establish an optimal process for the upgrade activity, including critical processes and tooling. Establish project resource profiles at competency level.
• Execute a seamless transition from Bids to Operations of all successful bids.
• What cost effective engineering solution will we propose to a Customers Enquiry?
• What can I do on the bid to increase our chances of winning and the subsequent return to the shareholder?
• How will I manage my work profile to achieve the bid timescale?
• Co-ordination of staff in the following locations:- Derby, Burton Upon Trent and any other BT facilities undertaking vehicle upgrade work
• Co-ordination of staff in the following functions:- Engineering, Methods and Procurement

Qualifications


• Experience of Production Engineering preferably in heavy rail or similar industry.
• Able to produce clear and concise work instructions and to control documentation in accordance with control systems
• Good communication and presentation skills
• HNC in an Engineering discipline
• Number of years of experience required : 2-5
• Bid management is a particularly pressurised environment due to a combination of the immovable timescales and the consequences success or failure. Subsequently this role requires a person who is self motivated and has a resilient character.
