Job Description
Job Description As Team Leader and a senior member of staff, the role includes input into the management of the local office with other team leaders. The ideal candidate should have the following attributes: • Experience in all aspects of Permanent Way design, from feasibility to detail design levels • Experience of heavy rail, metros and light rail. High speed or heavy haul an advantage • Capable of carrying out production and independent checks of a wide variety of Permanent Way Design details • Possess an understanding of system engineering concepts and safety management • Be familiar with emerging Permanent way geometry and materials • Be familiar with construction and installation methods • Be able to work as part of a team as well as well as taking the lead where required • Be an innovative thinker capable of challenging existing practices to arrive at effective solutions • Have an understanding of project planning and costing • Able to write and check reports and specifications • Good communication and people skills as well as the necessary technical design experience to carry out supervision, project management and checking roles on various permanent way schemes • Extensive experience in the requirements of railway industry Standards. Candidate Specification - Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent - Ideally Chartered or equivalent - Extensive experience working for an engineering consultancy within the rail sector - Fully conversant with MXRail (or similar design package) - Fully conversant with Microstation, ClearRoute and DesignRoute
