Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role In order to achieve the level of reliability that our customers demand and deserve, the Infrastructure Maintenance function employs 15,000 across 40 delivery units, and plays a major role in delivering our vision of engineering and operating excellence for Britain’s railway. Our in-house maintenance organisation works as one single team maintaining signalling, track, and electrification using standardised, efficient processes that are committed to the achievement of our corporate goals. Our track technical teams provide support to our Delivery Unit Track Engineers surveying track quality and designing schemes to ensure a smoother journey as well as technical record keeping and the calibration of technical equipment. About the role (External) This role will require you to provide technical support and guidance to the track maintenance engineering team. You’ll be required to manage and supervise the delivery and output of on track machine operations and undertake technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data. Your experience will enable you to design, install, test and commission equipment along with the management of preparing work, resource specification, method statements and plans. There will also be times when you will be required to prepare specifications and requisitions for materials as well as manage the processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment. All works carried out will have be checked for the quality and confirm assets are compliant to the standards and guidelines. A key role will be to keep all administration up to date; this will include managing information to update systems, databases and reports. You’ll also be expected to carry out all works safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures and method statements.
