Department & how it relates to the role



The Asset Management organisation brings together the people who maintain, specify renewal of the asset and deliver the renewals to enable the efficient delivery of these renewals through improved specification, better utilisation of resources and the professional control and management of projects. Our focus is to renew and enhance the rail infrastructure to deliver our commitments for the future through increased efficiency and value for money. As a Project Engineer (Signalling), you will form part of and at times, lead a team that will ensure that appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to design and construction on allocated projects.

About the role (External)





As a Project Engineer in the signalling discipline, you will form part of a team that currently comprises of two signalling engineers to enable the delivery of the Western and Wales signalling renewals workbank. This contains minor like for like renewals such as location renewal schemes up to minor re-signalling schemes with multidisciplinary elements. Your team also provides support to E&P and Comms schemes, for example signalling processes required for Level Crossing lighting column renewals and Comms cable renewals that carry signalling functions.



Current projects include:-



*
Stocks Lane and Causway MCB- CCTV level crossings and transfer control to Swindon B
*
Renew Colthrop and Kintbury level crossing and transfer control to TVSC Didcot
*
Inhibition controls on seven level crossings
*
Renew Ley Level crossing and transfer controls to Gloucester signal box
*
Renew Llanelli East and West level crossings to MCB-OD and transfer controls to Port Talbot
*
South Wales Life Extension Works at Carmarthen, Ferryside and Whitland including Clarbeston Road Cable Renewals
*
Plymouth Gloucester TDM works



You must have extensive experience within the signalling field, previously working in and leading teams in either maintaining, designing, constructing / testing & commissioning of signalling works. You will provide technical guidance to other engineering disciplines that require signalling input and to the programme management team. You will be given the chance to develop and grow your skills with a robust development plan.



You will work with objectives aligned to safety, our delivery success, innovation and efficiency challenges.



This will be a key position to ensure the future delivery success of the signalling element in Western and Wales Signalling, Power and Communications Asset Management.



Do you have…?



* Successful relevant experience of Signalling Engineering Projects?
* A good understanding of Signalling Design & Construction processes?
* Experience of leading a team?
* Successful relevant experience in engineering?
* Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level?
* Knowledge of the Rail and Other Guided Systems (ROGS) regulations?
* An awareness of Construction Design Management?
* The ability to make informed decisions?
