Job Description

A leading company requires a Signalling C&I Engineer for a new project. The project involves an introduction of new rolling stock onto a railway fitted with conventional signalling (colour light and mechanical train stop based) and subsequent upgrade of the railway’s signalling systems with a modern in-cab signalled communication based ATC (ATP and ATO) system.

Essential Experience:

Suitable qualifications that would lead to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or equivalent status and participation in the CPD process to attain Chartered status: Degree in an electronic / electrical engineering discipline with experience in a metro railway environment. HNC / HND would be acceptable if coupled with additional experience and training that bring the candidate to an equivalent level.
Currently, or previously, IRSE Licensed in any category.
Applying user and system requirements. Understanding and applying standards.
Computer literate in all Microsoft office applications with some knowledge and experience of the use of railway simulation tools. Use of requirement management tools is an advantage.

• Awareness of relevant engineering standards e.g. BSI, ISO LUL Cat 1 Standards
• Familiar with IEE regulations and Railway Signalling Safety Principles and guidance.

Candidate Background:

Industry: Railway Signalling with significant experience of LU domain
Roles: Signalling system development and / or application design.

Desirable Experience:

Relevant structured training in signalling (LU signalling principles course, IST, AST, LU signalling conversion course, or equivalents).
Experience of multiple other systems / disciplines within the railway environment, ideally including:
Rolling Stock; LVAC, HVAC or traction supplies; Building Services; Communication systems; LU Operations; System integration activities
Experience of System Engineering and System Integration
Experience encompassing at least two of:
Development of, or response to, project scopes or invitations to tender; Project delivery and the pitfalls to be managed; Design; Installation; Commissioning; Maintenance; Assurance.
Experience of Metro signalling Systems, (including ATP and ATO) and / or conventional LU Legacy Signalling systems.
