Job Description • Providing clients with track design and construction expertise • Developing track layout and route alignment designs • Supervising Junior Engineers and Technicians • Working efficiently using the latest software • With the support of Learning and Development, actively pursue CPD and further professional qualification • Travel within the UK and possibly overseas BOTH TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE Candidate Specification A Senior Permanent Way Design Engineer to join our Croydon based track team, supporting key projects. The ideal candidate should have the following attributes and experience: • Experience in all aspects of Permanent Way design, from feasibility to detail design levels • Qualified and competent in the use of ClearRoute • Capable of carrying out production and independent checks of a wide variety of Permanent Way Design details • Possess an understanding of system engineering concepts and safety management • Be familiar with emerging Permanent way geometry and materials • Be familiar with construction and installation methods • Be able to work as part of a team as well as well as taking the lead where required • Be an innovative thinker capable of challenging existing practices to arrive at effective solutions • Have an understanding of project planning and costing • Able to write and check reports and specifications • Chartered Engineer (although not essential) • Good communication and people skills as well as the necessary technical design experience to carry out supervision, project management and checking roles on various permanent way schemes • Extensive experience in the requirements of Network Rail’s Group and Company Standards. • Keen attention to detail and timely delivery with a ‘right first time’ attitude to work
