Job Description

Role and responsibilities:

* Support the delivery of the Competence Assurance and Track Maintenance Safety Critical Licensing schemes on behalf of the Compliance Skills & Licensing Manager to ensure compliance with standards.
* Prepare and deliver track training courses, undertake assessments and mentor staff to enable successful completion of a range of Safety Critical Licensed activities.

Key Accountabilities:

* Ensure that the work you undertake maintains safety of the line.
* Responsible for the delivery of compliance skills training procedures and processes.
* Responsible for the assessments and mentoring within the compliance skills portfolio.
* Responsible for maintaining detailed and auditable records of activities, assessments and mentoring of the track teams.
* Liaise with the Document & Competence Support staff to provide robust detailed records of candidates for the continued update of the Safety Critical Licensed databases.
* Support the development of Track Standards, Concessions and Procedures
* Support the development, deployment and management of the Track Skills Matrix and Technical Brief processes and procedures
* Familiarise yourself with the company core safety, technical and management briefs. Make your manager aware if you do not understand.
* Submit timely and accurate reports for outputs, accidents, delays and investigations, collate and retain work completed reports to provide the necessary assurance.

General Safety Responsibilities:

The job holder must be committed to the Company’s General Safety Policy statement and the Company’s safety programme and be aware of his/her contribution to the programme, including requirement to monitor safety performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high safety standards.

The job holder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to his/her post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements. These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 and associated regulations.

The jobholder will agree:

* To comply with all safety related rules, policies, directives and procedures authorised by senior management.
* To take reasonable care of oneself and of other people who may be affected by one’s actions and omissions at work.
* To co-operate with the management of the company, so far as is reasonable, regarding compliance with any statutory provisions.
* Not to interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare in pursuance of any relevant statutory provisions and comply with that Legislation which is specific to the post.

Required Skills and Experience:
Essential

* NVQ A1 Assessor certified or equivalent
* Safety Critical Licenses T001(Inspected Asset), T002 (Repaired Assets) and T003 (Modified Asset)
* PM4 Junction Work Inspection Safety Critical License
* PM3 Quality Inspection Safety Critical License
* Detailed understanding of railway engineering standards
* Thorough knowledge of National Occupational Standards for Track Engineering
* Temporary Approved Non Compliance [TAP] certified
* Competent in Computerised Asset Management systems
* NVQ Level 1 Health & Safety
* Emergency First Aid, Small Tools and Plant certified

Desirable

* NVQ Level 3 in Direct Training & Support
* NVQ A3 Train the Trainer
* NVQ Level 2 Health & Safety
* First Aid at Work
* The post holder is expected to hold and maintain the relevant certification to undertake the role.
