Job Description

Role and responsibilities:

* Support the P&C Development Manager with visual, technical inspections, surveys and reports in accordance with track standards.
* Provide technical support to the delivery sections for track operations related project works in accordance with TL and LU standards.
* Assist with the track design change process for the project works undertaken by operations.
* Assist with representing track operations with the Projects Section for agreement on all works undertaken by Projects including conceptual design and scope as well as the hand over / hand back process.

Key Accountabilities:

* Ensure that the work you undertake maintains safety of the line
* Provide technical support to the P&C Development Manager in renewal scope development and planning
* Develop and maintain renewal proposals that enable the P&C Development Manager to agree the priority for Renewal Works and manage the design change process.
* Undertake scope and snagging inspections of renewal sites to monitor and record installation quality and aid the Hand over/ Hand back process for Renewed Assets as defined in LU & TL standards, processes and procedures.
* Provide technical support to the P&C Development Manager in the review of the detailed records of repaired and modified asset and heavy maintenance records and approval of the Health & Safety files at hand over.
* Assist in the development and deployment of the strategy plan for points and crossings, providing a technical review of PM4 reports to identify where a heavy maintenance approach can be applied.
* Provide technical support to the inspection teams reviewing the PM3 reports to identify opportunities for applying a mechanised approach to rectification.

General Safety Responsibilities:

The job holder must be committed to the Company’s General Safety Policy statement and the Company’s safety programme and be aware of his/her contribution to the programme, including requirement to monitor safety performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high safety standards.

The job holder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to his/her post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements. These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 and associated regulations.

The jobholder will agree:

* To comply with all safety related rules, policies, directives and procedures authorised by senior management.
* To take reasonable care of oneself and of other people who may be affected by one’s actions and omissions at work.
* To co-operate with the management of the company, so far as is reasonable, regarding compliance with any statutory provisions.
* Not to interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare in pursuance of any relevant statutory provisions and comply with that Legislation which is specific to the post.

Required Skills and Experience:
Essential

* Detailed understanding of railway engineering standards and fault classification
* Experience in points and crossing maintenance, renewal processes and procedures
* Knowledge and understanding of the design processes and procedures
* Competent in Computerised Asset Management systems
* PM3 Supervisory Quality Inspection and PM4 Junction Work Inspection Safety Critical Licences.

Desirable

* Temporary Approved Non Compliance [TAP] certified.
* The post holder is expected to hold and maintain the relevant certification to undertake the role.
